How referrals work
A referral from your doctor or nurse practitioner is required.
In Alberta, patients with medical skin problems must be referred to a dermatologist by a licensed Canadian physician or nurse practitioner. Cosmetic treatments don’t need a referral.
How to get a referral
- Ask for a referral. See your family doctor, your nurse practitioner or a walk-in clinic physician. Ask them to fax a referral to Dr. Rao at 780-437-2247.
- We call you. When we receive your referral, our office will call you to book your appointment. Wait times vary.
- Come to your appointment. Bring your Alberta health card, a list of the medications you take, and the details of your referral, such as who referred you and why.
